Get ready for an unforgettable two-hour intermediate-level ride departing from Les 3 Fers riding centre in Le Dramont, Saint-Raphaël. You will make your way through beautiful pine and cork oak forests towards the Ferrières site, with plenty of trotting sections across varied terrain.
To take part in this wonderful adventure, riders must be comfortable trotting — a minimum Galop 2 level is therefore essential. Thanks to a small group limited to five riders, our State-qualified guide can maintain a smooth and enjoyable pace, with few stops.
We provide safety vests, helmets and stirrups that comply with current standards, and a weight limit of 85 kg applies to ensure the horses’ well-being and good health. Rides are available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 10 a.m., but places are limited to just three mornings per week.
This is a fantastic opportunity to discover part of the iconic Estérel Massif, a stunning area formed by volcanic activity 250 million years ago. Its red colour comes from rhyolite, a silica-rich volcanic rock containing iron minerals that have oxidised over time.
The massif covers 320 square kilometres between Cannes and Fréjus. It is perfect for hiking or horse riding thanks to its many trails. The landscapes are wonderfully varied, from lush forests to ridgelines with breathtaking views over the sea. Please note, however, that the trails include more challenging terrain, making them ideal for riders looking for more than a simple walking-pace ride.
At Les 3 Fers, the guide holds a State-recognised qualification. She supervises small groups of up to five riders, ensuring personalised attention for each participant. Each rider is assigned their own horse for the ride. The horses are matched to the riders’ level and height.
Before setting off, a safety briefing covers all the essential points. The centre has been awarded the “École Française d’Équitation” label, which means that its equipment, facilities and instructors are regularly inspected to ensure their quality.
Thanks to the professionalism of the guides, the demanding trails of the Estérel Massif, which could otherwise make the ride more challenging, become an enjoyable and spectacular experience, enhanced by breathtaking panoramic views.
The French Equestrian Federation (FFE) awards the “École Française d’Équitation” quality label to riding centres that meet strict standards in terms of teaching, safety and horse care. A State-qualified instructor holds a diploma recognised by the French Ministry of Sports. They have received in-depth training in teaching methods, first aid and group management during trail rides.
This label also means that the riding centre follows the training programme established by the FFE, including the Galop system, which defines a rider’s level.

To join this ride, you need to be at least at an intermediate level (minimum Gallop 2). This means you should feel completely at ease at a trot and be able to manage basic control and balance without needing constant guidance.
Since this 2-hour trail ride takes you over the uneven ground and slopes of the Estérel massif towards the Ferrières ruins, it requires a bit more confidence than a flat beginner ride. To keep everyone safe and ensure personal attention on this challenging terrain, we limit the excursion to just five riders.
