A western-style horse ride through the Estérel pine forest

L’Échappée Belle, the name we have chosen for our horse ride, starts from the My Little Western Pony ranch in Puget-sur-Argens. Get ready for two and a half hours of riding through the pine forest, accompanied by the sound of cicadas and birds all along the way.

The ride is ideal for beginners from the age of eight, as the trails are easy and the pace is adapted according to the group. We provide helmets and protective equipment, but please remember to wear long trousers and closed-toe shoes.

The weight limit is 92 kg. At just €58 per person, this ride offers excellent value for money.

Here is what you will discover. Nestled in the pine forests of the Estérel Massif, this horse ride winds through a landscape made up of umbrella pines and cork oaks. These trees thrive in the Mediterranean climate and on unique soils. The forest offers refreshing shade and a delicious scent of warm resin, wild herbs and sun-heated earth, adding to the full sensory experience.

The trail is perfectly suited to a relaxed western riding style. With its comfortable, deep seat and longer stirrups, it allows riders to find a smooth and easy rhythm while moving across varied terrain.

Panoramic views from the Rocher de Roquebrune to the bay

The Rocher de Roquebrune is an impressive rock formation rising 373 metres above the Argens plain. Its reddish-brown cliffs create a striking contrast with the green scrubland surrounding it. From the summit, you can enjoy a breathtaking 360° view including the Estérel and Maures massifs, the bay of Saint-Raphaël and, on a clear day, the Mediterranean stretching all the way to the Italian coast.

Along the trails of this “L’Échappée Belle” outing, your gaze will be drawn towards the horizon by the Rocher de Roquebrune.

Beyond the rock, you may glimpse the Mediterranean as a backdrop.

The guide will stop at the best viewpoints so that everyone can take photos. In a small group, you can take your time and fully enjoy the experience. This spectacular scenery is one of the reasons why the 2.5-hour ride is an excellent choice compared with a shorter option.

Can you ride a horse without a saddle?

It is possible, but this is not the experience offered here. It is not the best idea for beginners.

Bareback riding requires much more core strength, balance and body awareness, as you do not have the support of a saddle or stirrups to help you stay stable.

For beginners, using a saddle is much safer and provides better stability, helping you stay aligned, absorb movement and avoid slipping.

This is why the 2.5-hour “L’Échappée Belle” horse ride through the beautiful Estérel Massif requires all riders to use a saddle rather than ride bareback. Departing from the My Little Western Pony ranch in Puget-sur-Argens, this guided outing is perfect for beginners and enthusiasts, and offers western saddles as well as safety equipment so that everyone feels safe and well balanced on the trail.

What should you wear for this horse ride in Fréjus?

When setting off on a peaceful outdoor ride, it is best to wear comfortable long trousers and closed-toe shoes to protect your legs and keep your feet safe. Long trousers are essential to avoid rubbing against the saddle, while closed-toe shoes help keep your feet protected and stable in the stirrups.

You should also avoid loose clothing or dangling accessories that could get caught in the riding equipment or in low branches during the ride.

While exploring the trails of the Estérel pine forest, the My Little Western Pony ranch team takes care of your safety by providing helmets for this fully supervised outing.
